Christchurch City

Christchurch City Picture Gallery
What has always been evident in Canterbury, is the spirit of the people.

Christchurch has a proud history as the largest city and the unofficial capital of the South Island.

The wonderful gardens, public parks and awe inspiring architecture of Christchurch have welcomed visitors since being established as a formal city in 1856. However the events of February 22, 2011 changed the city of Christchurch forever. On this day, a forceful earthquake gave the city its darkest day.

What has always been evident in Canterbury, is the spirit of the people. Share time with one of our private guides as we illustrate how the city is rebuilding, the resilience of the people and the creativity of the city moving forward.
You will be driven up to the Port Hills where you get a great view down Lyttleton Harbour, as well as looking out over Christchurch City, with the Southern Alps in the background. You will also be taken to see how the central city is being rebuilt into one of the most interesting and vibrant small cities in the world.
